The Department of Radiology uses equipment that’s specially designed for children – not only to ensure the proper amount of radiation but also to provide additional comfort for our youngest patients, who can watch videos during their procedure to relax and reduce the need for sedation. When necessary, our team of experienced pediatric nurses can sedate patients in a safely monitored environment, and our pediatric anesthesiologists can administer general anesthesia for patients who require it.
Throughout each of the 48,000 radiological examinations performed by the Department every year, our commitment to accuracy and comfort is paramount. All Department staff members are board certified radiologists who have many years of experience dealing with diseases and conditions that are unique to infants and children. They provide a wide range of pediatric imaging services, including:
• General diagnostic radiology
• Fluoroscopy, including videofluoroscopy
• Computed tomography (CT)
• Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
• Nuclear medicine
• Ultrasound
• Teleradiology for sending and receiving images
Everyone in the Department works hand in hand with referring physicians and welcomes telephone consultation.
