Division, Pediatric Generalist Service

The role of the pediatric generalist in a tertiary care center is becoming increasingly important when caring for children with complex illnesses. The pediatric generalist can help families make the necessary contacts with the many different subspecialists and help facilitate diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.

The Service assists community pediatricians and family practitioners who seek second opinions, have diagnostic dilemmas or need coordinated care among a number of subspecialists. Team members are liaisons between the referring physician and St. Christopher’s, and manage the child’s treatment plan in concert with the family’s doctor. A member of the Service is available 24 hours a day for consultation, referral or emergency. Both inpatient and outpatient services are available.

Pediatric Generalist Service appointments: 215-427-4308

Patients requiring direct inpatient admission to general pediatrics call: 215-363-2703 (Beeper).
