Dear Friends and Colleagues:
Since 1875, families have been turning to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children.
There's a good reason for that. Our dedicated staff, advanced technology and specialized services help heal children when they're ill and help them stay healthy when they're well.
With 60 departments that specialize in caring for children, we're a full-service hospital for the local community, the Philadelphia region and patients from all corners of the globe. Through our affiliation with Drexel University College of Medicine and Temple University School of Medicine, we are a teaching hospital helping to train the next generation of professionals in pediatric medicine. With such acclaimed programs as our living donor organ transplantation program and our nationally recognized Pulmonary and Cystic Fibrosis Center, we are a hub for research and medical innovation.
But it's the people -- the ones providing the care and the ones receiving it -- who matter the most.
Our physicians are board certified in pediatrics or other pediatric subspecialties such as surgery, psychiatry or anesthesia and critical care. Because children have different health care needs than adults, St. Christopher's is staffed by more than 100 physicians who have concentrated on studying and then practicing just one area of medicine from a pediatric perspective.
Each member of our nursing staff is a highly skilled, compassionate individual dedicated to providing a child with the best possible care during his or her stay at St. Christopher's. Many of our nurses are master's-level clinical specialists who counsel, teach, conduct research and consult on complex issues.
Our wide-ranging support staff includes medical social workers, family and patient relations representatives, physical, respiratory, occupational and child-life therapists, educators, nutritionists, language interpreters, and chaplains.
These are the people who have earned the highest ratings in patient satisfaction surveys. Physicians feel comfortable referring patients here because of the high level of trust and communication developed among health professionals, staff members, families and their children. They know that they are an integral part of the plan we map out for each child's care.
With all the expertise these dedicated professionals put into caring for children form around the corner and around the world, it's the way they care about our kids and our families that makes the difference.
Sincerely,
Bernadette M. Mangan
